Abstract

A spinal cord infarction is an important cause of acute paraparesis. A 63-year-old male was struck by acute paraparesis with loss of sensation for pain and temperature on both of his lower extremities. Spinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerized tomography (CT) angiography revealed an aortic dissection followed by a spinal cord infarction. The high signal intensity of his first lumbar vertebral body also confirmed the diagnosis of spinal cord infarction. Vertebral body infarction may play a role of a suggestive finding for spinal cord infarction. (Korean Journal of Stroke 2007;9:83-85)
